Overview

In this intensive two-day course, students will not only build and sharpen their fundamental handgun skills, they will also gain a much better understanding of a pistol mounted optic and its advantages. From improving the performance of the aged eye shooter, to the advantages having a single focal plane sighting system, to utilizing the PMO as a self-diagnostic training tool and much more. Experience Requirements

This course is Step 3 in our foundational handgun training series. Students must be graduates of Pistol Mounted Optics 102. The student MUST know and be able to demonstrate how to safely load, fire, and unload a handgun.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Identify the different types of PMO's and their pros and cons
• Demonstrate the ability to properly sight in (zero)
• Recognize the effects parallax with PMO
• Consistently and efficiently acquire the dot
• Apply sound marksmanship fundamentals
• Perform various reloading techniques
• Apply techniques to utilize the dot as a self-diagnostic tool
• Effectively deliver multiple shots
• Identify and clear malfunctions
• Work through a downed, or occluded optic
• Perform moving then shooting
• Transition from target to target
• Perform single hand shooting, both dominant and non-dominant hands
• Successfully apply different types of sight pictures

Equipment List

• Quality functional semi-automatic pistol with PMO - Full size and compact pistols only (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
• 3 magazines
• Magazine pouch
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
• Please wear long pants with pockets and belt loops, a sturdy 1.5" belt, closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals), and a crew neck (T-shirt) or button-up shirt (no low-cut neckline)
• Loading devices (optional)

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Colorado Springs, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 700 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Colorado Springs facilities only
