Pistol Mounted Optics 102 (8 Hours)

Overview

Utilizing the SIG (Simple Is Good) principles of handgun training, this course takes students through the efficient and safe use of a handgun. Working from the holster, stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, performing reloads, clearing stoppages, and correctly manipulating a trigger to maximize accuracy are all thoroughly taught in a relaxed, hands-on environment.

Experience Requirements

We require the successful completion Handgun 101: Handgun Orientation or equivalent prior to attending this course. The student MUST know and be able to demonstrate how to safely load, fire, and unload a handgun. Open to all. Background checks are required, unless the student is a sworn law enforcement officer, corrections officer, private licensed security, or US Military personnel. Documented completion of a basic handgun safety course is required.

If you believe you meet the prerequisites to bypass Handgun 101 and enroll directly in Handgun 102, email ssainfo@sigsauer.com to request approval. Be sure to include your training background and attach any relevant certificates indicating a live fire course equivalent has been successfully completed. Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Demonstrate the safe use and handling of a handgun.
• Choose a holster for your personal needs.
• Safely and efficiently draw from and recover to a holster. 
• Demonstrate foundational shooting techniques.
• Safely and efficiently load, reload, and unload a handgun. 
• Safely and efficiently hit a target with the dominant hand only.

Equipment List

• Do not bring any firearms or ammunition to this course. 
• Please wear long pants with pockets and belt loops, a sturdy 1.5" belt, closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals), and a crew neck (T-shirt) or button-up shirt (no low-cut neckline)
• Magazine pouch
• Hydration system
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Recommend electronic hearing protection or earmuffs and earplugs
• Loading devices (optional)

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Centennial, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 200 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Centennial facilities only

Classes starting at 8:30am will run until 4:00pm.

Classes starting at 1:00pm will run until 8:30pm.
