Skill Builder: Rifle/Carbine (8 Hours)

Overview

Designed to test and improve the skills of the modern semi-automatic rifle/carbine user, this course focuses on range exercises to develop rifle handling, manipulation, marksmanship, and maintenance. No lectures, no sitting around, just drill after drill with experienced instructors offering coaching and guidance.

Experience Requirements

This is an intermediate level class. Completion of Rifle 104 or an equivalent 2-day rifle course required. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, and foundational marksmanship skills. 

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Refine and apply fundamentals of marksmanship to a variety of positions and distances. 
• Enhance shooting skills through performance-based training.
• Identify deficiencies and apply newly practiced skills to enhance accuracy and speed.

Equipment List

• Reliable, mechanically sound semi-automatic rifle or carbine with sling
• 3 magazines
• Magazine pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5” wide
• Handgun
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Ammo

• Estimated round count: 500 rounds rifle, 100 rounds pistol
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Centennial facilities only
