Shotgun Mechanics is the second class in our foundational shotgun training series. Students will start with a quick warm-up and review of skills learned in Shotgun Fundamentals. Students will complete a slug zeroing exercise as well as a buckshot patterning exercise. Students will work through a progression of drills that include port loading, sustained loading, status checks, malfunction clearance, dynamic steps offline, pivots & turns, and target to target transitions.
*Please note that birdshot will be primarily shot during this course utilizing steel reactive targets. Some birdshot can cause reliability/function issues in semi-automatic shotguns. If you are bringing your own shotgun, make sure it functions properly with birdshot. As always, the SIG SAUER Academy offers the free use of loaner firearms for any course offered.*
This is an intermediate course; we recommend that you have attended SIG SAUER Academy’s Shotgun 101: Shotgun Fundamentals course or equivalent before you attend Shotgun 102: Shotgun Mechanics. The student MUST be able to demonstrate a level of proficient shotgun manipulations. Open to all. Background checks are required, unless the student has a permit to carry from his/her state of residency or is a sworn law enforcement officer, corrections officer, private licensed security, or US Military personnel.
