High Risk Executive Protection Operations (40 Hours)

Overview

This course builds upon the basic protective fundamentals presented in our Executive Protection Operations Course (EPOC) and is designed for protective service operations that may occur in hostile or wartime environments. The protective detail still relies upon low profile movements, standard light skinned vehicles, and minimal personnel; however, sub guns and carbines are introduced as well as tactical casualty care. This is an extremely physically and mentally demanding course requiring long days and maximum student participation. Students should prepare accordingly.

Experience Requirements

This is an advanced level class. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, foundational marksmanship skills, and working from a holster. The student must demonstrate the ability to maintain muzzle discipline with multiple weapon systems. Successful completion of the SIG SAUER Academy Executive Protection Operations AND Rifle 103 or an equivalent is required to attend this training.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Explore the principles of medium to high-risk protection
• Conduct protective walking formations over long distances and rough terrain
• Understand and establish defense in depth
• Acquire protection specific live fire skills using handguns
• Acquire protection specific life fire skills using sub guns and carbines
• Select and use cover and concealment while protecting the principal
• Master alternative  shooting positions
• Shoot while moving
• Engage multiple targets in counter ambush techniques
• Learn and conduct tactical casualty care

Equipment List

• Pistol in one of the following calibers: .380, 9MM, .357SIG, .40S&W, or .45ACP (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
• 3 magazines minimum
• Belt mounted, dominant side holster
• Rifle or carbine with sling (calibers supported: 5.56, 7.62NATO)
• 3 magazines minimum
• Body armor recommended (level IIA minimum)
• Magazine pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Casual, comfortable civilian clothing suitable for training in any weather on Outdoor Ranges
• Hydration system
• Sunscreen and bug spray
• Hat with a brim
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs
• Knee and elbow pads

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH location.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 500 rounds pistol, 500 rounds sub gun (9mm), 500 rounds rifle
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Colorado Springs facilities only
