Overview

This no‑frills course is designed to strengthen law enforcement officers’ pistol handling skills with both the dominant and support hand while integrating essential, lifesaving Stop the Bleed techniques. Officers will train to operate effectively under stress, manage their firearm one‑handed when necessary, and immediately transition to emergency medical care when seconds matter most.

This course is designed for law enforcement, military, and credentialed armed professionals. 

Course Outline

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 

• Identify the nomenclature of a tourniquet
• Demonstrate the ability to apply a TQ to oneself or another
• Demonstrate techniques to safely draw a pistol with either hand
• Demonstrate techniques to safely reload a pistol with either hand
• Demonstrate techniques to safely clear pistol malfunctions with either hand
• Safely move, stop, and shoot with a pistol
• Explore skill boundaries at a distance with single-hand techniques

Equipment List

• Duty pistol in one of the following calibers: 9MM, .357SIG, .40S&W, or .45ACP
• 3 magazines minimum
• Belt-mounted, dominant side concealment holster or duty rig
• Magazine pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5” wide
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Casual, comfortable civilian clothing suitable for training in any weather (unless training in duty uniform)
• Hydration system
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs
• Optional items:
  • Concealment jacket or vest
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Hat with a brim

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 250 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping and New Smyrna Beach facilities only
