Overview

The one-day Reflexive Shooting skill builder is focused on an instructor-led review and the opportunity to build on foundational skills. Drills are executed without sights. The shooter will develop adaptive levels of speed and accuracy that will sway even the most hardened “front sight focus” advocates.

Experience Requirements

This is not an entry-level class. Students must, at minimum, complete Reflexive Shooting and Reflexive Shooting II courses.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please read the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Students must complete the course, be physically able to stand and move for an entire session, and shoot 500 rounds safely and successfully into a target between 2 and 10 yards. They must also be proficient at the loading and unloading procedure, demonstrate the ability to manually lock a pistol slide to the rear, and perform a three-point safety inspection.

Course Outline

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Safely apply the skills to perform reflexive shooting techniques
• Develop their ability to point-shoot reflexively
• Demonstrate the ability to engage multiple threats at close range reflexively
• Expand their understanding of the applicability of reflexive shooting

Equipment List

• Pistol in one of the following calibers: .380, 9MM, .357SIG, .40S&W, or .45ACP (no other calibers allowed). SIG highly recommends compact or full-size handguns (no other calibers allowed, semi-auto center fire pistols only).
• 4 magazines
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Exceptions can be made for Agency or Department issued equipment. Questions? Please call us at 603.610.3400. 
• Magazine pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement
• Casual, comfortable civilian clothing suitable for training in any weather
• Hydration system
• Sunscreen and bug spray (seasonal-optional)
• Hat with a brim (optional)
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH and New Smyrna, FL locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 500 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping and New Smyrna Beach facilities only
• Frangible is NOT required at the New Smyrna Beach, FL location
