Overview

Ready for more trigger time with your precision scoped rifle? Come practice alternative shooting positions – even the unorthodox – and take advantage of unique range features to challenge your skills. This one-day class is a chance for the precision scoped rifle shooter to practice alternate shooting positions out to even greater distances – up to 750 yards! Under the guidance of highly skilled long-range shooting instructors, students will better prepare themselves for the next level of training by integrating stability enhancing equipment and techniques required for shooting precision rifle systems from alternative, and often awkward, shooting positions. 

Experience Requirements

This is a physically demanding course!

Students must have successfully completed Precision Scoped Rifle 102, Skill Builder: PSR Alternative Shooting Positions I, and Skill Builder: PSR Tripod Shooting. Students must be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, and foundational marksmanship.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum rifle skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering. 
 

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Practice building various alternative shooting positions such as kneeling, open seated, and closed seated with a scoped rifle.
• Assess if established alternate shooting position is stable, adaptable, and repeatable and adjust if necessary.
• Practice using various stability enhancing equipment such as a tripod, bipod, backpack, natural terrain, etc. to engage a target.
• Apply and refine marksmanship fundamentals to successfully (with accuracy and precision) hit designated target(s) out to 750 yards.
• Maintain correct shot “process” for each shot taken. 
• Practice adjustments based on current atmospheric influences on external ballistics.
• Analyze a target and make necessary scope adjustments to correct shot impacts.
• Practice properly adjusting scope for impact shift on demand.
• Record relative and important data in issued data book.

• Precision scoped rifle
• Rifle scope with minimum 3x18 magnification power (Exceptions can be made, coordinate prior to signing up for class)
• Tripod (adjustable, designed to support rifle)
  • If using a SSA loaner rifle, a tripod will be supplied.
• MATCH GRADE AMMO
• Pack
• Shooting bags
• Field notebook and pencils
• Clothing suitable for training in any weather
• Hydration system  
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs
• Spotting scope (optional)
• Rangefinder (optional)
• Backpacks, rear bags, bipods, shooting sticks
• Rifle cleaning equipment  
• Sunscreen and bug spray  
• Hat with a brim 

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH location.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 200 rounds match rifle
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping and New Smyrna Beach facilities only
• If you bring ammunition for a loaner rifle in Epping, it must be factory loaded .308WIN Match
• If you bring ammunition for a loaner rifle in New Smyrna Beach, it must be factory loaded 6.5 Creedmoor

Precision rifle systems are available for loan from the Epping facility. If you bring ammunition for a loaner rifle, it must be factory loaded .308WIN Match.
