Skill Builder: Pistol II (8 Hours)

Overview

This Skill Builder: Pistol II course is specifically designed to improve the skills of shooters that have completed our Handgun 104 course. The course provides the necessary time to improve on the skills and knowledge gained in the previous courses.

Experience Requirements

At a minimum, student must be a graduate of Handgun 104.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Students who successfully completed the 2-day course 'Handgun 104: Introduction to Defensive Handgun Skills' prior to February 2024 will have fulfilled the prerequisites necessary to enroll in any courses that require successful completion of either the 1-day 'Handgun 104: Advanced Handgun Skills' or the 1-day 'Introduction to Defensive Handgun Skills' course.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Fine tune draws from a holster
• Shoot accurately from the low and high ready positions
• Refresh & reinforce trigger manipulations
• Properly diagnose and correct malfunctions
• Perform accuracy drills 
• Refine one handed shooting and manipulations 
• Develop and refine “move, stop, shoot”
• Utilize proper cover & concealment techniques

Equipment List

• Handgun, major caliber 9mm, 357 SIG, 40 S&W, 45 ACP (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Exceptions can be made for Agency or Department issued equipment. Questions? Please call us at 603.610.3400. 
• Magazine pouch
• 3 magazines
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Clothing suitable for training in any weather
• Hydration system
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Recommend electronic hearing protection or earmuffs and earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Centennial, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 500 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Centennial facilities only
