The types of firearms that can be used in a defensive situation are numerous, and all have their own advantages and disadvantages. Modern defensive shotguns are unparalleled in terms of effectiveness and versatility. However, there must be a clear understanding of their capabilities, handling characteristics, and limitations. In this fast-paced, intensive two-day course, students will further develop defensive skills, improve proficiency, and build confidence to successfully operate a shotgun in a high-stress defensive situation. Advanced Defensive Shotgun will reinforce and build upon the skills learned in Defensive Shotgun. This course will then introduce new skills such as positional shooting, support side shooting, wounded manipulations, and tactical decision making.
This is an advanced course; we strongly recommend that you have attended SIG SAUER Academy’s Shotgun 103: Defensive Shotgun course and Handgun 103 or equivalent before you attend Advanced Defensive Shotgun. The student MUST be able to demonstrate a high level of proficient shotgun manipulations, as well as demonstrate competence in working from a holster with their handgun.
Open to all. Background checks are required, unless the student has a permit to carry from his/her state of residency or is a sworn law enforcement officer, corrections officer, private licensed security, or US Military personnel. Documented completion of a basic handgun safety course is required.
