Shooting on the Move II (4 Hours)

Overview

In this 4-hour, action-packed course, students will take their firearm proficiency and performance to the next level. Shooting on the Move II focuses on refining the principles of efficient movement as you apply situational awareness in a 360° environment. Our focus on movement will empower students with the skills that can save lives and provide a competitive edge in pistol competitions. Experience Requirements

The student must have completed the SIG SAUER Academy Handgun 104 and Shooting on the Move or an acceptable equivalent from another training academy to attend. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, foundational marksmanship skills, and working from a holster.

Students must complete the course in its entirety. There will be multiple drills in this course that require movement and elevated heart rate.

Students who successfully completed the 2-day course 'Handgun 104: Introduction to Defensive Handgun Skills' prior to February 2024 will have fulfilled the prerequisites necessary to enroll in any courses that require successful completion of either the 1-day 'Handgun 104: Advanced Handgun Skills' or the 1-day 'Introduction to Defensive Handgun Skills' course.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Safely demonstrate a pistol draw while incorporating a step in various directions (forward, backward, left, and right).
• Demonstrate proficient pivoting techniques to effectively engage targets while in motion.
• Apply situational awareness to safely turn and engage a target that is behind you.
• Engage a target while moving forwards, backwards, and laterally.

Equipment List

• Pistol in one of the following calibers: .380, 9MM, .357SIG, .40S&W, or .45ACP (no other calibers allowed) (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
• 3 magazines or 4 speed loaders/moon clips/speed strips minimum
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. • Magazine/ammunition pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5” wide
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Casual, comfortable civilian clothing suitable for training in any weather (unless training in duty uniform)
• Hydration system
• Sunscreen and bug spray (optional)
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Colorado Springs, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 300 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Colorado Springs facilities only
