Overview

Working with a person’s natural tendency to be target focused, in tandem with our innate hand eye coordination ability, Reflexive Shooting allows shooters to take their speed and accuracy to new levels. Reflexive Shooting is based on the close combat experience and teachings of CQB icons Talbert, Applegate, Sykes and Fairbain. Drills are executed without sights and the shooter will be brought to skill levels relative to speed and accuracy that will sway even the most hardened “front sight focus” advocates.

Experience Requirements

This is not an entry level class. At a minimum, students must have completed Handgun 104 or an equivalent course prior to taking this class. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, foundational marksmanship skills, and working from a holster.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

• Understand the theory and history of reflexive shooting techniques
• Develop the ability to point shoot reflexively
• Successfully apply the skills to perform reflexive shooting techniques
• Gain an understanding of reflexive shooting advantages and disadvantages
• Demonstrate the ability to engage multiple threats at close range reflexively

Equipment List

• Pistol in one of the following calibers: .380, 9MM, .357SIG, .40S&W, or .45ACP (no other calibers allowed). Highly recommend compact or full size handgun (no subcompacts) (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed).
• 4 magazines or 6 speed loaders minimum
• Belt mounted, dominant outside the waistband holster preferred. Concealment holster optional
• Magazine pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Casual, comfortable civilian clothing suitable for training in any weather
• Hydration system
• Sunscreen and bug spray (seasonal)
• Hat with a brim
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Colorado Springs, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 1,000 rounds pistol
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Colorado Springs facilities only
