Overview

The Qual Course - Pistol is a marksmanship class that immerses students in a nonstop rotation of qualification courses drawn from a wide range of law enforcement agencies and military branches. Instead of drills or tactics, the focus is pure performance under pressure—running timed standards, adapting to different scoring systems, and experiencing how various organizations evaluate accuracy and consistency. Students leave with a deeper appreciation for the diversity of qualification design and a clear picture of their own strengths across multiple shooting benchmarks.
 

Experience Requirements

This is an intermediate level class. Rifle 103 is required prior to attending this course. The student must be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, and foundational marksmanship skills. 

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

 

Competitive Shooting Classifications as a Prerequisite

Certain competitive shooting classifications reflect a level of skill and experience that meets or exceeds our course progression standards. Students holding qualifying classifications may bypass specific prerequisites based on the discipline and division in which they are classified.

Rifle Classes (PCC Only)

To bypass Rifle 101, 102, or 103: You must be classified as B, A, M, or GM in PCC division only.

To take any of our civilian rifle classes: You must be Master or Grand Master in PCC division only.
Note: Rimfire and Revolver divisions do not count toward bypassing any class.

Classification Verification for Prerequisite Bypass

Students who wish to bypass a course prerequisite based on competition classification must provide proof of current classification prior to registration.

• IDPA classification card or screenshot from idpa.com

A member of our team will contact you to confirm that the prerequisite requirement has been removed, allowing you to proceed with enrollment in your desired course(s).

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Develop the ability to perform consistently across a wide range of qualification standards.
• Understand how different agencies and military branches structure and score their marksmanship tests.
• Improve accuracy, speed, and decision making under timed qualification conditions.
• Build adaptability by transitioning between varying distances, round counts, and shooting sequences.
• Strengthen proficiency with shot timers to manage pace, track performance, and apply pressure realistically.
• Track individual performance across multiple quals to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
• Gain confidence operating within standardized, measurable marksmanship frameworks.
   

Equipment List

• Quality functional semi-automatic pistol – Full size and compact pistols recommended (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
• 3 magazines
• Magazine pouch
• Dominant side, hip-mounted, outside the waistband belt-mounted holster (No IWB)
• Holster Requirements:
  • Must completely support the pistol.
  • Must not collapse once drawn.
  • Must fit properly to the belt. 
  • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
  • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
  • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
  • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
  • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Exceptions can be made for Agency or Department issued equipment. Questions? Please call us at 603.610.3400.
• Long pants with pockets and belt loops, a sturdy 1.5" belt, closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals), and a crew neck (T-shirt) or button-up shirt (no low-cut neckline)
• Hydration system
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Recommend electronic hearing protection or earmuffs and earplugs
• Loading devices (optional)

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH location.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 800 rounds rifle
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping and New Smyrna Beach facilities only
