PSR 104: Reach for a Mile (24 Hours)

Overview

In this advanced long-distance course, SIG SAUER Academy Instructors will assist students in hitting targets out to 1,800 yards. This three-day course offers shooters the opportunity to test their skills at extreme ranges, conditions, and angles not normally found at most other shooting facilities.

Experience Requirements

Precision Scoped Rifle 102 or equivalent is mandatory to attend this class. Scopes is preferred but not mandatory. 

Students must be able to spend prolonged periods in the prone shooting position and participate in alternate positional shooting positions.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Demonstrate effective zeroing procedures.
• Grouping drills and evaluation. 
• Apply marksmanship fundamentals to successfully (with accuracy and precision) hit the target(s).
• Apply proper application of data to the optic required for the prescribed range. 
• Maintain correct shot “process” for each shot issued. 
• Record relative and important data in issued data book.
• Analyze a target and correctly make scope adjustments to correct shot impacts.
• Correctly read wind and adjust shot calls accordingly. 
• Work with a partner to make calling corrections and using spotting techniques.
• Apply angle compensation calculations to accurately hit a target. 
• Safely handle all equipment consistently.

• Precision scoped rifle (.308, 6.5 or larger caliber. 24-inch barrels recommended)
• Shooting mat
• Carrying case
• Spotting scope capable of observing targets at one mile.
• Binoculars (optional)
• Rangefinder Capable of ranging targets out to 1800 yards
• Rifle cleaning equipment (recommended)
• Field notebook and pencils
• Clothing suitable for training in any weather
• Hydration system
• Hat with a brim
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs

Ammo

• Approximately 500 rounds (student to provide own ammunition)
