Overview

Now the important question, what if you only had one hand available? Shooting one handed is a skill necessary for defensive shooting and competitive shooting. It is also beneficial for the recreational shooter that is trying to increase their skillset. This course will bring you to that next level on all aspects of one hand pistol operation.

Experience Requirements

The student must have completed the SIG SAUER Academy Handgun 104 or an acceptable equivalent from another training academy to attend.

Students who successfully completed the 2-day course 'Handgun 104: Introduction to Defensive Handgun Skills' prior to February 2024 will have fulfilled the prerequisites necessary to enroll in any courses that require successful completion of either the 1-day 'Handgun 104: Advanced Handgun Skills' or the 1-day 'Introduction to Defensive Handgun Skills' course.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Apply fundamental marksmanship principles to one hand shooting
• Draw and presentation dominant hand
• Draw and presentation support hand
• Transfer the pistol from strong hand to support hand
• Balance speed vs. accuracy
• Reload utilizing one hand
• Clear malfunctions, one handed
• Move and shoot
• Shoot while moving

Equipment List

• Quality functional semi-automatic pistol - Full size and compact pistols only (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
  • No micro pistols or pocket pistols to include: P238, P938, P365, M&P Shield, Glock 43, etc.
• 3 magazines
• Magazine pouch
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
• Please wear long pants with pockets and belt loops, a sturdy 1.5" belt, closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals), and a crew neck (T-shirt) or button-up shirt (no low-cut neckline)
• Optional, loading devices

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Colorado Springs, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 200 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Colorado Springs facilities only
