This in-depth multi-day course provides students with a first of its kind opportunity to learn from the world class instructors of the SIG SAUER Academy and the renowned hunting guides of R&K Hunting Wyoming. This course will be held at the country’s premier hunting destination, Queen Mountain Ranch in Evanston, WY.
Experience Requirements
Open to all. Background checks are required unless the student has a permit to carry from his/her state of residency or is a sworn law enforcement officer, corrections officers, private licensed security, or US military personnel.
Students will be participating in alternate shooting positions. Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.
Course Outline
Classify all product and gear needed for a successful hunt whether guided or unguided, solo, or with a group
List out application process for acquiring hunting tags
Review proper rifle handling methods, on the trail, in the field, carrying and packing
Locate, range, and engage targets, under controlled time, independently, and with a spotter
Establish a “comfort zone” with the rifle and define what personal limitations are
How to confirm zero on a scope and establish holdovers and what they mean.
Identify caliber and projectile selection specific to the target game
Overview of hunting techniques
Shoot in multiple positions and at multiple distances
Evaluate proper glassing techniques for game in the field
Discuss post-harvest game processing and packing
Equipment List
Clothing/footwear suitable for any weather and mountainous conditions
Field notebook and writing utensil.
