Mechanical and Shotgun Breaching Instructor (16 Hours)

Overview

Over 2 days, students are given the foundational information needed to become breaching instructors in manual and shotgun breaching. Upon completion of this course, students will have an understanding of how to properly breach doors and windows safely while working with a tactical team and at the patrol level.

Experience Requirements

Current Law Enforcement or Military members ONLY.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Understand door construction, swing, and common fortifications 
• Read the door and plan a successful breach
• Operate a ram and understand the common attributes
• Differentiate Halligan bars their intended use
• Display the proper use of bolt cutters
• Demonstrate proper breaching shotgun carry, use and capabilities
• Defeat windows quickly and effectively
• Utilize the quickie saw

In order to receive a certificate of completion, students will be required to participate in 16 hours of practical exercises utilizing breaching equipment. Students will be required to demonstrate the safe and proper application of each device.

• Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK)
• Gloves
• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH location.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 30 rounds 12ga bird shot; 30 rounds 12ga breaching (breaching rounds to be provided by student)
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping facility only
