Overview

To expedite the learning curve, we utilize a unique combination of our SIG SAUER Academy principles of firearms training, adult learning theory, objective based training, and E.D.I.P. After the hands-on classroom portion, students will head right out to the range for a wide array of drills and skill development. The students will not only gain a deep understanding of the platform itself; they will also achieve a high level of proficiency, both in manipulating and shooting the M17/M18. The armed professional will leave this course with the confidence they deserve in their new duty firearm.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Apply safe gun handling in any environment. 
• Demonstrate the skills necessary to disassemble and reassemble the M17/M18 at the operator level.
• Demonstrate the ability to clean, inspect, lubricate, and perform a function check.
• Properly fit a gun to a shooters hand, specifically the small, medium, and large grip modules of the M17/M18.
• Apply Proper techniques for drawing from the holster.
• Proficiently disengage and engage the manual safety
• Apply the proper ready position for any given environment.
• Perform loading techniques, conduct status checks, and unloading procedures.
• Apply proper marksmanship fundamentals with the M17/M18.
• Consistently and successfully engage a target from 25 yards and in.
• Proficiently conduct slide lock reloads.
• Properly identify and clear malfunctions.
• Proficiently draw and shoot with one hand, both strong and support side. 
• Apply multiple shot techniques.
• Effectively move, stop, and shoot.
• Successfully shoot on the move.
• Perform multiple target engagement drills.
