Long Range Pistol (4 Hours)

Overview

You practice and train with your pistol regularly for defensive and or competitive scenarios. Your skills are refined; your shot placement is where it needs to be. Up close that is. The time has come to break out of your comfort zone; refine those skills well beyond the 25-yard line. The long-range pistol shooting course will give you the marksmanship skills matched with the confidence to effectively place shots on target at long range. Upon completion of this course, you will have the required skills and knowledge to fire your pistol at distances beyond the 25-yard line. If you are a defensive shooter or competitive shooter this course will give you the edge you need to make that long shot.

Experience Requirements

This long range shooting course is an intermediate level class. Student must have completed Handgun 103 or an equivalent course prior to taking this class. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, foundational marksmanship skills, and working from a holster.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Apply long distance pistol precision fundamentals at various distances beyond 25 yards
• Effectively hit targets at distances up to 100 yards

Equipment List

• Pistol or revolver in one of the following calibers: .380, 9MM, .357SIG, or .45ACP (no other calibers allowed) (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
• 3 magazines or 4 speedloaders/moon clips/speed strips minimum
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Exceptions can be made for Agency or Department issued equipment. Questions? Please call us at 603.610.3400. 
• Magazine/ammunition pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Casual, comfortable civilian clothing suitable for training in any weather (unless training in duty uniform)
• Hydration system
• Sunscreen and bug spray
• Hat with a brim
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Centennial, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 150 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Centennial facilities only
