Overview

This is an advanced level course designed to improve skills in a team dynamic. Ideal for spouses, siblings, friends, coworkers, or anyone interested in safely and effectively applying a pistol in a defensive situation. Surviving a deadly threat confrontation, while working with or protecting a partner is the focus of this course. Shooting, moving, and communication skills will be honed in a live fire environment utilizing our 270 degree range and our live fire shoot house. Students will learn to bail out of vehicles, move using cover and concealment, learn emergency egress techniques, shielding and escorting options, proper application of close quarter shooting techniques, and more. This is a fast paced course, which will be led by senior instructor staff with real world experience. Come ready to train!

Experience Requirements

This is an advanced level course. Handgun 104* or it's equivalent is required prior to taking this course. Do not attempt to take this course if your skill level and physical condition is not at or beyond our 104 level. No exceptions.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

*Students who successfully completed the 2-day course 'Handgun 104: Introduction to Defensive Handgun Skills' prior to February 2024 will have fulfilled the prerequisites necessary to enroll in any courses that require successful completion of either the 1-day 'Handgun 104: Advanced Handgun Skills' or the 1-day 'Introduction to Defensive Handgun Skills' course.

Course Outline

• Accelerated marksmanship refresher
• Proper application of ready positions for a dynamic environment
• Improve one handed shooting techniques
• Explore different acceptable sight pictures
• Shooting while moving (both two-handed and one-handed)
• Close quarter shooting
• Learn and practice efficient tactical communication
• Advanced movement techniques
• Escorting and shielding techniques
• Engaging in and around vehicles
• Vehicle bailout procedures
• Break contact drills using vehicles and cover
• Tourniquet application with one handed shooting
• Shoot, move, and communicate
• Proper use of cover and concealment
• Emergency egress while escorting and shielding

Equipment List

• Quality functional semi-automatic pistol - no micro pistols or pocket pistols. Full size and compact pistols only (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed).
• 3 magazines minimum
• Optional, loading devices
• Belt mounted, dominant side holster
• Magazine/loading device pouch(es)
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Clothing suitable for training in any weather, pants must have belt loops
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Colorado Springs, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 800 rounds pistol (50 of those rounds should be frangible for use in shoothouse)
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Colorado Springs facilities only
