Executive Protection Skill Builder: Live Fire EP Formations (16 Hours)

Overview

Designed to build upon the foundational skills learned in the Executive Protection Operations Course, this two-day skill builder focuses on the shooting aspects of the EP mission. This fast-paced course puts the students back on the range for more live fire training specifically based on EP emergency operations in low to medium risk situations (handgun only) and includes a focus on one-handed handgun operation. This is a physically and mentally demanding course requiring long days and maximum student participation. Students should prepare accordingly.

Experience Requirements

This is an advanced level class. Successful completion of the SIG SAUER Academy Executive Protection Operations Course is required to attend this skill builder. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, foundational marksmanship skills, and working from a holster. This is a physically demanding course.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Apply safe gun handling in any environment
• Discuss the use of force in the protective environment
• Refresh formations and techniques of the protective detail
• Master protection specific live fire skills using a semi-automatic handgun
• Conduct single hand shooting and manipulations
• Shoot on the move
• Select and utilize cover and concealment with a principal
• Break contact while caring for a principal

Equipment List

• Handgun in a major caliber such as 9mm, .357 Sig, .40 cal., or .45 ACP (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Ammo

• Estimated round count: 500 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Colorado Springs facilities only

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Centennial, CO locations.
