Overview

When proper Advance work and deterrence fail, Security Details must act quickly, efficiently, and effectively. Building upon skills learned in the Executive Protection Operations Course, this program focuses on the skills needed for successful action. Students are presented with proven techniques in executive protection specific driving (presented by Vehicle Dynamics Institute), a comprehensive trauma management package, concealed carry security advisor techniques, and live fire action with a principal in and around vehicles.

Experience Requirements

This is an advanced level class. Students must have completed the SIG SAUER Academy Executive Protection Operations 40-hour course or an approved equivalent at a minimum.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please read the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Demonstrated evasive driving techniques and maneuvering in both forward and reverse
• Perform high energy braking and cornering
• Understand the pros and cons to advanced technology in vehicles
• Utilize motorcade tactics, techniques and procedures
• Identify basic anatomy and physiology
• Discuss modern techniques for bleeding control and treatment of gunshot wound
• Consider the effects of environmental emergencies
• Perform a patient assessment
• Recognize airway considerations
• Assess the necessary first aid kit components
• Conduct single hand shooting and manipulations from concealment
• Master protection specific live fire skills from concealment
• Shoot on the move with a Principal
• Select and utilize cover and concealment with a Principal
• Break contact while protecting a Principal
• Knowledge of ballistics on vehicles and glass
• Successfully shoot from a vehicle
• Demonstrate how to safely exit a vehicle while engaging a threat
• Demonstrate how to work in and around vehicles with a Principal
• Explain types of window penetration tools
• Demonstrate the proper use of how to use a vehicle for cover

Course Requirements: 
Students must complete the course, be physically able to drive a passenger vehicle, stand and move for five consecutive 8+ hour training sessions and shoot approximately 1,000 rounds safely and successfully into a target between 3 and 50 yards. They must also be proficient at the loading and unloading procedure, demonstrate the ability to manually lock a pistol slide to the rear, and perform a 3-point safety inspection.


Evaluation and Assessment:
Students will be evaluated on their ability to safely and successfully demonstrate a fundamental understanding of all listed learning objectives. The course embeds continuous assessment of student progress to identify learning needs and shape instruction.

Equipment List

• Handgun in a major caliber such as 9mm, .357 Sig, .40 cal., or .45 ACP (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
• Dominant side, hip-mounted outside the waistband holster or dominant side, belt-mounted outside the waistband holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Exceptions can be made for Agency or Department issued equipment. Questions? Please call us at 603.610.3400.

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH and New Smyrna Beach, FL locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 1,000 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping and New Smyrna Beach facilities only
