Dynamic Performance Rifle (8 Hours)

Overview

This course is designed to put the shooter through a series of drills testing the shooters performance on demand. Every course is scored and recorded for evaluation and future comparisons.  This course will involve drills designed to improve the shooters performance on demand balancing speed and accuracy at various distances. The skills performance on demand will be used on drills incorporating rapid movement between shooting stances and positions. Shooters will be required to move rapidly between 5 and 100 yards on many of the drills during this course. The drills will challenge every shooter regardless of skill sets both mentally and physically.  

Experience Requirements

This course is designed for advanced level shooters that have a clear understanding of safe gun handling in a 360° environment. Students must have successfully completed Rifle 104 prior to registering for this course. This course is a physically demanding course. Students must be realistic about their physical condition and gun and handling skills if considering attending this course. Students will be required to rapidly move between shooting stances and shooting positions. Drills will incorporate moving and running to positions at distances of 5 to 100 yards.

Every drill in this course will involve one or all of the following: the use of alternate shooting positions, move-stop and shoot, shooting on the move, and running to positions. The drills are designed to challenge the individual shooter to improve their performance based upon their individual skill set. The drills will challenge the shooter both physically and mentally. 

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Understand and use performance-based training
• Focus strictly on accuracy
• Implement ‘Entry’ and ‘Exit’ strategies during movements
• Call their shots
• Apply ‘Move, Stop, and Shoot more efficiently
• Effectively and accurately shoot on the move under stress
• Understand and demonstrate efficient target to target transitions
• Effectively use of a shot timer during training

Equipment List

• Reliable, mechanically sound semi-automatic rifle or carbine with sling and red dot sight strongly recommended
  • Absolutely NO pistol braces and NO sub guns
• 3 magazines
• Magazine pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Clothing suitable for training in any weather
• Hydration system
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Recommend electronic hearing protection or earmuffs and earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Centennial, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 500 rounds rifle
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Centennial facilities only
