Overview

This streamlined course strengthens pistol handling skills while emphasizing the critical role ballistic cover plays in officer safety. Participants will learn to fight from positions of protection, manage angles, and make effective shooting decisions while using the environment to their advantage. The intent is simple: reduce exposure, increase effectiveness, and build confidence under pressure.

This course is designed for law enforcement, military, and credentialed armed professionals.

Course Outline

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 

• Identify terrain options that may provide cover
• Discuss advantages and disadvantages of proximity to cover
• Demonstrate ability to shoot from various angles behind cover
• Articulate benefits to move or upgrade cover

Equipment List

• Duty pistol in one of the following calibers: 9MM, .357SIG, .40S&W, or .45ACP
• 3 magazines minimum
• Belt-mounted, dominant side concealment holster or duty rig
• Magazine pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5” wide
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Casual, comfortable civilian clothing suitable for training in any weather (unless training in duty uniform)
• Hydration system
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs
• Optional items:
  • Concealment jacket or vest
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Hat with a brim

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 350 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping and New Smyrna Beach facilities only
