Cold Weather Carbine (8 Hours)

Overview

This course focuses on range exercises to develop rifle handling, manipulation, marksmanship, and maintenance. Students will face challenging drills, culminating with a final exercise on the Jungle Run.

Experience Requirements

This is an intermediate level class. Successful completion of Rifle 104 and Handgun 104 or an equivalent 2-day rifle course required. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, alternate positions, and foundational marksmanship skills. This is a physically demanding course.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Rifle/carbine carry and presentation, low ready only
• Fundamental marksmanship
• Offset
• Reloading, tac and bolt lock
• Transitions to pistol
• Bilateral shooting
• Multiple target engagement
• Shooting on the move, pivots/turns/forward
• Alternate positions
• Barricades

Equipment List

• Reliable, mechanically sound semi-automatic rifle or carbine with sling
  • Absolutely NO pistol braces and NO sub guns
• 3 magazines
• Magazine pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Handgun
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. • Clothing suitable for training in any weather (this course is taught outdoors only)

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH and New Smyrna Beach, FL locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 500 rounds rifle, 100 rounds pistol
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping and New Smyrna Beach facilities only.
