Overview

Survival is dependent upon having a plan of action and being prepared to immediately implement it when confronted with an armed assailant. This advanced course provides students with the techniques and knowledge necessary to defend themselves and react appropriately while offering ample training time to practice.

Experience Requirements

This is an Advanced Level Class, Handgun 103 is required at a minimum. Students should be able to demonstrate proficiency in weapon handling, working from concealment, and single hand shooting techniques.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Perform strikes and manipulate their pistol within contact distances
• Apply tuck and retention techniques while defending from an attack
• Utilize defensive techniques while on their backs
• Maintain accuracy while moving in any direction
• Accurately and efficiently engage multiple targets
• Perform contact shots safely and effectively
• Determine potential reactionary time based on distance and threat type. 
• Determine the type of sight picture necessary based on target distance and size.
• Apply point or precision based on target distance, size, and time.

Equipment List

• Pistol in one of the following calibers: .380, 9MM, .357SIG, 40S&W, or .45ACP
  • No other calibers allowed. Semi-auto center fire pistols only (revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
• 3 magazines minimum
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Exceptions can be made for Agency or Department issued equipment. Questions? Please call us at 603.610.3400. 
• Magazine pouches
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Concealment jacket or vest (optional)
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Casual, comfortable civilian clothing suitable for training in any weather (unless training in duty uniform)
• Hydration system
• Sunscreen and bug spray
• Hat with a brim
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH and New Smyrna Beach, FL locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 400 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping and New Smyrna Beach facilities only
