The Advanced Instructor Certification was meticulously crafted as an Instructor Development course to elevate the effectiveness of both your program and instructors. Drawing from over 30 years of expertise in competitive, law enforcement, and military special programs training, this course provides a comprehensive and pragmatic approach for today’s armed professionals and responsible citizens. The Advanced Rifle Instructor Certification course is your gateway to refining instructional techniques and curriculum design. Embracing a ‘Coaching’ perspective over traditional ‘Instruction,’ instructors will gain valuable insights to enhance overall performance.

Students who successfully complete the course will receive an instructor certification valid for three (3) years in the use and instruction of both rifle and pistol caliber shoulder firearms. Students previously certified as SIG SAUER Advanced Rifle Instructor will be re-certified as an instructor and valid for a three (3) year period.

Experience Requirements

This course is an advanced level course. Attendees must be a previously certified firearms instructor through the SIG SAUER Academy or certified through another nationally recognized instructor development program (5 day minimum). Call for clarification.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Discover the SIG SAUER Academy Principles of Firearms Training.
• Understand and apply Adult Learning Theory to tailor instructional methods that resonate with diverse learning styles.
• Identify and employ effective techniques for proper demonstration in firearms training.
• Differentiate between performance-based and outcome-based training strategies for enhanced skill development.
• Comprehend the importance of visual input in firearms training and teach techniques that facilitate success.
• Recognize various adult learning styles and implement tailored approaches to enhance overall performance.
• Break down conventional training barriers by adopting innovative and proven methodologies.
• Acquire proficiency in foundational drills and skills essential for consistent success in firearms training.
• Develop the ability to establish and utilize metrics to assess and enhance the success of training programs.
• Incorporate video analysis techniques to identify areas for improvement and enhance overall performance.

Evaluation and Assessment: 
Students must meet the minimum standards to receive a certificate of achievement, failure to do so may result in a certificate of attendance. Students will be evaluated on their ability to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of all listed learning objectives safely and successfully. Continuous assessment of student progress is embedded within the course to identify learning needs and shape instruction. Successful completion of the course is determined by meeting several combined course requirements. Achievement is not solely based on passing or failing a single event but on overall performance across multiple graded events. The following distinctions apply:

• To Receive a Patch: You must pass at least one of the TCSs (5/6) on one of the two occasions that they run.
• To Receive a Certificate of Achievement: You must achieve at least 80% of the total score across all graded events (1920/2400 points).
• To Receive a Certificate of Attendance: If you score less than 80% of the total points, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Students will be evaluated on their overall performance throughout the course based on the following criteria:

1. Technical Knowledge
2. Teaching Ability
3. Shooting Performance

Equipment List

• Patrol rifle with sling and 5 magazines
  • Absolutely NO pistol braces and NO sub guns
• Combat optic (optional), but recommended
• Duty pistol with 3 magazines
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. • Magazine/ammunition pouches for each weapon
• Notebook
• Marker
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
• Knee and elbow pads (optional)
• Casual, comfortable civilian clothing suitable for training in any weather (unless training in duty uniform) and footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Hydration system and sunscreen
• Hat with a brim
• Wrap around eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and/or earplugs

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Centennial, CO locations.

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 1,000 rounds rifle, 150 rounds pistol
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Centennial facilities only
