The Active Shooter Response Instructor course is designed specifically to help the current or prospective agency firearms instructor create or update a comprehensive program for their Officers. The course will address valid lessons learned and the most up to date solo officer tactics, in addition to multi-jurisdictional integration skills by incorporating the MACTAC Course on the final 2 days of the week.
This training course is specifically designed for patrol officers up to experienced tacticians. A moderate proficiency level and working knowledge with the carbine and pistol are required to attend. The student must also be free of any physical ailment that would limit their participation in events that require running, climbing and carry 45lbs for extended periods. Please see the Required Equipment section for student responsibilities.
Day 1: Covers an overview of active shooter incidents, equipment selection, live fire team formations and shooting skills necessary to deal with an active shooter.
Day 2: Exposes the trainer to team movements in a structure, to include hallways, stairwells and live fire room entries while utilizing the Live Fire Shoothouse, additional topics include entering the warm zone, medical evacuations, IEDS, moving through crowds, link up procedures and fratricide mitigation.
Day 3: Full profile force on force scenarios for the traditional active shooter event response using the newly acquired protocols.
Day 4 & 5: Covers the next generation of active shooter response, MACTAC (Multi-Assault, Counter Terrorism Action Capabilities). Topics covered include a MACTAC overview, squad maneuver tactics, immediate action drills, Rescue Task Force, and force on force scenarios.

In order to receive a certificate of completion, students will be required to attend 40 hours of training. Students must demonstrate the proper techniques of individual and team movement when confronted with an active shooter scenario. Students will demonstrate proper teaching techniques during student-centered learning events.
As of January 2017 this course will run 5 days instead of 3 in order to incorporate the 2-day MACTAC (Multiple-Assault Counter Terrorism Action Capability) course.
