Eric brings over 25 years of combined military, private security, and law enforcement experience to the Sig Sauer Academy. He is a Desert Storm veteran who served five years of active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps Air Wing. In the civilian sector, Eric held a Supervisory appointment, providing dedicated private maritime security.
Most recently, Eric retired with 20 years of service in law enforcement as a Police Officer in the Patrol Division for a municipality in Massachusetts. During this time, Eric also served as a Field Training Officer, a decorated K-9 handler, and a member of a regional SWAT team, which serviced over 50 cities and towns in Massachusetts. His notable contributions on the SWAT team include exemplary duties as an entry team operator and tactical SWAT K-9 handler.
Eric is also recognized as a seasoned K-9 handler in the New England region, with over 12 years of experience working with three dogs. Two of these dogs have been nationally certified in narcotics, patrol, apprehension, tracking and
tactical operations. Eric has served in both a leadership and instructional capacity in the K-9 field working as a certified K-9 trainer and evaluator for large city police departments and regionalized K-9 training groups, where he was responsible for certifying and maintaining the proficiency of over 100 K-9 teams. In addition, he has sat on several K-9 selection boards for various Police agencies, assisting the selection of new handlers and he assisted multiple agencies with the successful implementation of new K-9 programs.
Eric has obtained numerous instructor certifications and qualifications pertaining to firearms, use of force, tactical operations and various K-9 disciplines. Eric is an active member in the following professional organizations: the International Police Work Dog Association (IPWDA), the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA), with whom he is a certified patrol dog trainer, and the National Rifle Association (NRA).
