Night Vision Operator (8 Hours)

Overview

The majority of deadly force encounters occur in darkness. Does your unit have the critical training necessary to ensure their safety when responding in low-light situations? Modern night vision technology is an absolute force multiplier that enhances a team’s existing capabilities. Instruction lead by our cadre of elite former Special Operations soldiers will ensure you have the proper training to select and employ night vision technology.

Experience Requirements

This course is restricted to current military or law enforcement. Rifle 104 or equivalent is mandatory. Proof of training and credentials must be submitted during registration.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Effectively dawn and operate helmet mounted night vision
• Understand the practical applications of night vision
• Select and utilize current dependable equipment
• Properly mount and zero infrared aiming devices
• Be able to navigate and shoot using their optics and IR devices
• Demonstrate the ability to effectively identify and engage a target using night vision
• Clear malfunctions under night vision
• Understand the limitations of night vision

Equipment List

• Carbine or AR with sling, capable of mounting infrared optic
• Night Vision compatible sight (Red Dot, variable power scope)
• Pistol with weapons mounted white light; OWB holster
• Helmet with shroud and NODs mount
• Night vision device (PVS14s, 15s, 31s, etc)
• IR device (LA5, PEQ15, NGAL, RAIDX, etc)
• 3 magazines rifle, 3 magazines pistol
• Belt or plate carrier capable of holding all equipment
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Exceptions can be made for Agency or Department issued equipment. Questions? Please call us at 603.610.3400.

Tuition includes: PVS14, Ops Core Helmet, Wilcox night vision mounts

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 300 rounds rifle; 50 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping, New Smyrna Beach, and Colorado Springs facilities only
