Overview

During this 2-Day course students will be taught techniques to effectively search, navigate, identify potential threats, and engage when necessary in a low light environment. Through the application of the SIG Principles of Firearms Training, Student Instructors will gain the ability to convey this new knowledge to their students in a clear and concise manner.

Experience Requirements

This class is restricted to Active Law or Military only. Military, or Law Enforcement Officers must have documentation of successful completion of an entry level pistol skills program from a military or law enforcement agency or training facility.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum handgun skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Understand how the human eye works
• Select the proper equipment for operating in a low light environment
• Understand the 8 Principles of Low Light
• Utilize various handheld and weapons mounted light techniques
• Conduct reloads, malfunction clearances, target-to- target transitions, and shoot on the move in a low light environment
• Apply the Sig Principles of firearms training when teaching how to operate in a low light environment

In order to receive a certificate of completion, students will be required to attend 16 hours of training and demonstrate safe gun handling in a limited visibility environment. Student will demonstrate proper use of a flashlight in a limited visibility environment utilizing both hand-held and weapons mounted lighting in a variety of static and dynamic situations.

Equipment List

• Pistol in one of the following calibers: .380, 9MM, .357SIG, or .45ACP (no other calibers allowed) (semi-auto center fire pistols only - revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)
• 3 magazines or 4 speed loaders/moon clips/speed strips minimum
• Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
  • Holster Requirements:
    • Must completely support the pistol.
    • Must not collapse once drawn.
    • Must fit properly to the belt. 
    • When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. 
    • Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. 
    • “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted.
    • Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
    • Holster compliance is at the discretion of the Instructor. If a holster is deemed to not comply with safety requirements, a loaner SIG SAUER pistol and/or appropriate holster will be provided. Exceptions can be made for Agency or Department issued equipment. Questions? Please call us at 603.610.3400. 
• Magazine/ammunition pouches
• Handheld flashlight
• Weapon mounted light with suitable holster (optional)
• Sturdy Belt at least 1.5" wide
• Concealment jacket or vest (optional)
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Casual, comfortable civilian clothing suitable for training in any weather (unless training in duty uniform)
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
• Earmuffs and earplugs
• Knee pads

Tuition includes free loan of firearms, holsters, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping, NH location

Ammo

• Estimated round count: 650 rounds pistol
• For Epping, NH courses, non-toxic, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required - call for clarification
• Lead core ammunition to be used on steel only
• No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time
• Ammunition is available for purchase from the Epping and New Smyrna Beach facilities only
